On November 16th 2018, this years Pokemon games, Pokemon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go Eevee! were released. This was the first Pokemon game that has been released for the Nintendo Switch and hopefully the first of many. This game was made for those who grew up loving Pokemon and want to return to Kanto. First off I'll start with the positives of the game, my favorite thing about the game is the fact that it's available on the Switch. You can get both high quality game play and it's PORTABLE! Another big addition to the game is how much this feels like the mainstream Pokemon games, (if you didn't know this is a remake of Pokemon Red and Blue for the original Game Boy) the RPG game play feels similar to newer Pokemon games like Pokemon Sun and Moon. Now with the positives there are however some negatives, the biggest one for most people is the dinky motion controls. The problem most people have with it is that its super inaccurate and that when they throw the Pokeball by acting like you are throwing it with the JoyCon and it goes in a weird direction. Luckily when you are playing in handheld mode this isn't an issue. Overall this game is very entertaining and holding off most people untill the next Pokemon generation is released in 2019!

This week a trailer for the new movie, "Detective Pikachu" was released. Fan's initial opinions were mixed but personally I am looking forward to seeing the film and hoping that it is good. So for this blog post Mr. Bourgeois has tasked us with watching a movie based off a video game and doing a comprehensive review of it. So I decided to watch one of the worst films based off of a video game, "Doom". This film was released in theatre's 2005, and it was directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak and produced by Universal Studios. From an overall entertainment standpoint this movie seemed very cheesy from the beginning, the lines seemed forced, almost as if the actors didn't want to do the movie. Since the game is purely action it couldn't have been that hard to make a movie off of it but Universal Studio's still found a way to mess this movie up, in the game the monsters were demons that came straight from hell but in the film adaptation they are genetic mutations. This was just one of many flaws within the story line, the game is fast paced and filled with combat, while in the film other than the opening scene there is little to no action for the first 30 minutes. The characters just felt too stereotypic it was a team of soldiers who nobody really cared about, running around on mars trying to find these genetic mutations, that is the premise for so many movies and this one was just the same as the others. Overall if you had never played Doom before you probably would have enjoyed the movie but if you have played the game you probably would have came out of the theatre disappointed and wanting your money back.
