So with every new day brings new games, now this isn't necessarily a new game but it is a free content update to what is possibly the most popular game in the world right now, Call of Duty: Warzone. Now if you have been living under a rock for the past year, Warzone has become the most popular free to play game in the world, with Activision coming out in late 2020 saying that they have passed over 80 MILLION players worldwide, and that number has only been going up since. Now this update to the game was the "second" season of this years game, so this is like the second of what is most likely six seasons within the games yearly lifespan. Since Warzone was originally released with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the game has seen some major changes since its release. When the newest Call of Duty released, Black Ops: Cold War, we saw an integration between Warzone and Cold War. This meant that all the guns from Cold War were added into warzone and the leveling system in Warzone changed to be the same as the prestige system in Cold War. Now with all of the being explained I can finally get into my thoughts on the newest season of Warzone. This seasons theme is "jungle" so all the cosmetic items that you can earn in this Battle Pass are jungle themed, which I think are pretty cool. The biggest thing that they added into the actual gameplay is a new location on the map where there is a shipwreck on the south of the map that actually spawns zombies where if you kill all of the zombies you can earn a new weapon blueprint that is a limited time exclusive, I haven't gotten the chance to get the blueprint yet since its super crowded and everyone is dropping there right now but in a little bit of time hopefully I can get it. Other than the new battle pas and the new location on the map nothing else is really new for warzone specifically, so to me this update was kind of underwhelming. Like they did fix some bugs that were in the game but other than that now new crazy changes to keep the game fresh, it just kind of seems like the same game as last season.

For my first game review of the second quarter I'm going to review specifically the new multiplayer of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. This was actually the first game that I pre-ordered since I had a lot of fun with my friends in the last Call of Duty game so I was looking forward to the newest installment of the series. Overall my experience with the game has been fine, I'm playing this game on my PC, the first call of duty game I've played on PC, and my PC doesn't have the best specs but the game still runs at about 50 FPS on all the lowest settings, so the game doesn't look great but if you had a beastly computer and turned all the settings up to max I'm sure it would look great. One of the biggest complaints surrounding Cold War is the skill based match making, and for anyone who doesn't know what that is I'll give you a little recap. When you join into your first game and then play through, the game places you in a rank with players of your similar caliber, this results in bad players playing against bad players and good players playing against good players. The issue that most people have with SBMM is that it completely takes away from the casual aspect of the game, so players always have to be trying their hardest instead of just casually hopping on to play some matches. The consensus that players agreed would fix this issue would be a ranked playlist, which is not new for the Call of Duty series but its common for that playlist to release later into the games life cycle. Another issue I personally have with the game is the map count. The gam only released with 8 maps and two of those are specifically for the 12v12 game mode. Overall the game is nothing new, there are no new flashy gimmicks that change the game, but if you are a casually first person shooter fan tan I'm sure that you will still enjoy the game.

It seems to be a common theme with my game reviews and its doing games that I never thought I would do, and this is another one of those. Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout is a battle-royale platformer which I think is the first of its time. Players go through a series of four to five different maps where more and more players get eliminated each round and in the final round players compete to win a crown. I've actually really enjoyed playing this game, not as much by myself, but when its late at night and I can hop on with my buddies its just so much fun, I can play with them for hours on end while maybe still getting a little bit mad but wanting to comeback in the next game for redemption. I found out about this game after watching some of my favorite game streamers play this game and I thought that it looked really fun, then luckily for me I found out that the game was free for PlayStation plus members which I had so I got the game for free which is so much better than paying 20 dollars for it. One of my favorite things about this game is the art-style, players get to play as little jelly beans running around and its really funny to me, the map style is very similar where all the colors are really bright and playful. As childish as the game may look it can be so rage inducing! Some times when all the players run into one area your character will just rag-doll and it will let other players pass you and that just makes us super mad but then that just makes you want to ply another game to try and get that elusive win. Throughout my short time playing this game I've had a lot of fun, I really like the fun art-style and different cosmetic outfits that you can buy with easy to earn in-game currency, i would highly recommend this to any gamers who are just looking to have fun with a game.

Now this is a game review I never thought I would be doing, so yeah here it goes. So it started when swim practice was closed, I didn't really have an outlet to use my energy in so my mom suggested I go on YouTube and do a Zumba class. That to me felt pointless because there was no way I could be judged or win anything, so I got to thinking and then it hit me... OMG I need Just Dance. I had played Just Dance in the past at friends houses but I had never owned a copy for myself, So I went tho the Switch E-shop and luckily for me it was on sale. After waiting for the game to download, which took a long time because its a decently big file, I finally fired the game up and I started playing. The user interface was super simple, it had a list of all the songs and you could sort them in ways like, alphabetical, easiest to hardest, or which songs took the premium membership (I'll touch on this later). So since my family was all sitting around the house being quarantined they had nothing better to do than watch me dance. At first they laughed at me but then later they wanted to play it for themselves. It was actually a lot of fun, we laughed a lot and had a really good time. Now to touch on the actual game, its just like every other dancing video game, there is a list of songs that you can pick from and then you do the same dance as the avatar on the screen. The game isn't original at all since Ubisoft has been making the Just Dance games since 2009, but every year they slap a fresh coat of paint on it and I guess suckers like me buy it. Now to some of my complaints, at first the song selection is very limited, maybe like 15 songs for you to chose from but for those who buy the premium package you can get like 70 more songs. This is one of those ways that Ubisoft tries to get a ton of money out of their customers, give them a little bit of taste for the game, but still hold back a bunch so they have to purchase it later, it just gets on my nerves. Overall the game was actually a lot of fun, after dinner one night we had a round robin tournament in my family, where everyone had to dance against everyone and it was hours of laughs, sweat, and spending time with each other which isn't something we get to do all that often.

I know what you're thinking, "But Jay, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee was on the Switch!" and I get where your coming from but give me a minute to explain my thoughts. Yes the Let's Go games were released on switch but A they were just Gen 1 reboots and B the game was created to tie into Pokemon Go. But now to onto the real topic of this blog post, Pokemon Sword and Shield! Pokemon Sword and Shield is the 8th generation of Pokemon and the first NEW NEW Pokemon game on the Nintendo Switch. When Sword and Shield were first announced, it was announced that not all of the Pokemon were going to be in the game which created lots of disputes among fans. Personally for me this only created one issue, MUDKIP DIDN'T MAKE IT, but all jokes aside (not really) this didn't have a huge effect on me, I was just excited to see the new Pokemon. The biggest new mechanic of the game is the wild area, where players can encounter wild Pokemon up to level 60 which can be pretty scary when a level 12 Grookey is your best Pokemon. The biggest new mechanic about the wild area is that players can rotate both joysticks to move your character and to move the camera following your character which is new to Pokemon games. Other than the wild area the gameplay is just like any other Pokemon game, you progress through the towns earning gym battles until you can beat the champion. My only complaint about the gameplay is that the first hour and a half were so stupidly easy and boring, I don't want to do all of these stupid tasks, just let me start battling Pokemon. Another big issue with the game is some of the visuals in the wild area, you can tell that the devs just wanted get the game done and released and you can tell by the trees in the wild area. You can tell that they were reused assets from another game and its very obvious because its copied and pasted all over the wild area. But other than the tree the game does look really good, like the towns that were created specifically for this game all look really good and they all have a special charm to each of the towns. The interface is just like any other Pokemon game with subtle changes like you can access you Pokemon box from anywhere. Personally I have really enjoyed this game so far and would definitely recommend this game to Pokemon fans old and new!

Mario Kart Tour was released on September 25 by Nintendo as their second major mobile game release. The game was first announced in February of 2018 and was meant for an early 2019 release and here we are now in September of 2019 and the game just released. Well was the wait worth it . . . eh kinda, let me explain. The game is fun, I do have a good time playing it but there are just some major improvements that could be made. The game is overall pretty enjoyable and every time I open the app I seem to get trapped for a couple of races. You race against seven other people, in maps from previous Mario Kart games. For a mobile game, the graphics are good, it looks like you are playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on a Switch in portable mode. I think that if they flipped the screen to be horizontal instead of vertical then the game would feel more like a regular Mario title. The audio is straight from other Mario Kart games, the map music and sound effects are the exact same as on past titles. The interface is similar to the other Mario Kart titles, your placement in the race is in the top left of the screen with a small mini-map under it, your score from the race is in the top right of your screen. The game is highly accessible, it’s a free game and all you have to do when you get it is make a free Nintendo online account. For the technical side of the game you have to have a phone with either the IOS App Store or Google Play Store. Overall the game is really fun and if Nintendo adds in other features like a good multiplayer and different controls it could be golden!

Dear Minecraft, I love you so much. I’ve put numerous hours into you and through all the ups and lows I still end up coming back. But in all seriousness I really do enjoy Minecraft and it’s a great game and let me tell you why. After you’ve completed the main storyline which is still great there’s so many other things to do in the endgame, you can download numerous mods that just make the game more enjoyable. Or you can play on different servers with your friends and do anything that any other creators have made for you. Over the summer my friends and I all pitched in to purchase our own personal server so we can do whatever we wanted. In between swim practices we would go home and play Minecraft all day until it was time for the next practice, and don’t even get me started on the storyline. With so many different things to get into it’s an endless amount of fun. I don’t think that I can explain in words my real love for Minecraft, it gives me so many memories back to my childhood when I would play Minecraft Pocket Edition with my sister on long car rides to Massachusetts or at swim meets with my best friends in between our events. So from deep down my heart, Minecraft I love you.

Roblox is a game as well as an entire experience. When I say this I mean its simply way more than a single game with a single storyline. Now when lots of people think of Roblox they think of memes and little kids playing on their computers, now I don't blame them because that is primarily the games reputation but recently I have found myself spending long nights up with my friends playing random games. Roblox was initially released in 2005 by Roblox Corporation and as time has moved on Robox has released games on multiple services such as XBOX and IOS. When people usually think of a game they think of levels and storylines that players have to follow, but this game is completely new. It is supported by the community meaning that players and companies can create their own levels and games for everyone to enjoy. This has been massive where there are games for everyone and it has been big for creators too, in a study from Duke in 2017, they estimate that creators have earned at least 30 million dollars collectively. They make this money from a free game by including in game purchases that aren't necessary to complete the games. Its massive success also led to toy line being released in January of 2017 by toy fabricators, Jazwares. Now I'm going to give you some reasons that I have really enjoyed playing this game, first off when searching for a random game to play with friends there are millions and millions of options for you to choose from. Another big reason is that once you or your friend have found a game that you want to play all you have to do is go to your friends list and select your friend, then just click join game. Now the game isn't perfect and you can tell, mainly with the user interface. If I were a little kid trying to find their friends list, I would definitely have some difficulties. As it is a simple interface there are many ad's and lots of different games on the home-screen which make it very crowded. These issues are very easily overcome with help from a parent or simply just contacting customer services. Overall Robolx really ignites my nostalgia and staying up late with some of my friends searching for a fun game has left me with a sweet-spot for this game.
Summary:
On November 16th 2018, this years Pokemon games, Pokemon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go Eevee! were released. This was the first Pokemon game that has been released for the Nintendo Switch and hopefully the first of many. This game was made for those who grew up loving Pokemon and want to return to Kanto. First off I'll start with the positives of the game, my favorite thing about the game is the fact that it's available on the Switch. You can get both high quality game play and it's PORTABLE! Another big addition to the game is how much this feels like the mainstream Pokemon games, (if you didn't know this is a remake of Pokemon Red and Blue for the original Game Boy) the RPG game play feels similar to newer Pokemon games like Pokemon Sun and Moon. Now with the positives there are however some negatives, the biggest one for most people is the dinky motion controls. The problem most people have with it is that its super inaccurate and that when they throw the Pokeball by acting like you are throwing it with the JoyCon and it goes in a weird direction. Luckily when you are playing in handheld mode this isn't an issue. Overall this game is very entertaining and holding off most people untill the next Pokemon generation is released in 2019!
Summary:
In the last two weeks most of my time has been spent between two things, school and Destiny 2 Forsaken. This is how much I love this game, since the release of Destiny 2 in late 2017 after the initial release content was pretty dry. Yes there were expansions but both of them were short and useless to the actual story of the game it was just short side missions to get your light up and that's pretty much it. With the release of Forsaken this gives destiny players a reason to return to the game we all know and love. It's a revenge story after everyone's favorite Exo, Cayde-6 is murdered you hunt down his killers in the new Tangled Shore and revenge his death. After you complete the story there are still things to do, like the crucible, exotic quests, and the Last Wish raid. I do also have some complaints about the game too, once you hit 500 light there are very few ways to level up like raid and obtaining powerful gear which is only on a weekly basis and I think that it should be daily or on a four day rotation. One thing that I have really enjoyed about the game has been its transfer from console to PC. I started playing Destiny 2 when it released on PS4 but when Forsaken came out I finally made the switch to PC and it feels amazing, I get little to no frame rate drops (only when I'm streaming) and the fluidity of the game is clearly superior. Overall I think that Forsaken is definitely a needed addition to the game for both new and returning players.
